A shopping birthday present

Shopping

I made a birthday present for my sister-in-law who loves to shop.  I wrote a poem and then put it on a 12 x 12" cardstock.

Here are a couple of pictures.  They are not very good because I still haven't found my camera and had to use my cell phone.

The 12 x 12 cardstock and the cardstock that has "tours" on it came from the same place but I don't have the cover so I can't say who made it.  The black and white is velvet - I just love velvet!

The poem is a little more detail.  I used a thin font from Lettering Delights called "Sparkle."  I imported it into my Make-The-Cut software.  You can only use it in the MTC software because it is an opf format.  I really have no clue as to what that means.

Once I put it on the virtual cutting mat as I liked it I then exported it as an svg file.  Once it was an svg file I imported it into my Pazzle's Inspiration Pro Software.

I ended up using an inexpensive pen to write the poem.  I tried several pens and they would dry out before it was finished.  I used a white cardstock purchased at Walmart to print the poem.

The cut out of the shopper I found in the Library of the Pazzle's Craftroom.

The flowers and gems are from my stash.

Here is the poem I wrote for her:

Shopping is my passion
A passion for fashion

The clothes, the jewelry,
The shoes, the stores.
Oh what a chore.

They call my name...
Apple, Brighton, The Body Shop,
Barnes and Noble, Victoria's Secret,
Macy's and many more
Are in store.

I'll try to set my limit
But that I can edit.

I'll shop in New York
Baltimore, actually anywhere
The jobs he took
Always gave me the look.

Oh and the jobs he takes
My shopping will they make.

Yes, shopping is my passion
A passion for fashion.

Her husband works away from home and she and the kids will fly out to visit him.  Most of his jobs are in the east hence Baltimore and New York.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to take a look at this birthday present!

And if you have time I would love to hear from you.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Easter Baskets

I made a couple of Easter baskets this afternoon.  I wanted to take something to my son's school and thought this would be good.

The pictures are not very good because I took them in a hurry.  Me procrastinate?  Of course I was making these about 1/2 hour before I had to leave to pick him up.

Here are the pics:

I used The Blossoms and Butterflies cardstock from DCWV.  I didn't have time to do any embellishments today but I am going to try and make some more and those I will have some embellishments on them.

I used my Pazzles Inspiration to cut.  The file is one that Klo made and I tweaked it to work for me.  Her cutting file was a Shamrock purse/bag.  I changed it by "breaking apart" her design and replacing the dotted lines with solid lines.   I probably am not explaining this very well and I apologize.

When it was time to send it to the Inspiration I used the embossing tool to "draw" the solid lines.  This guided me when it was time to fold.

After the embossing I replaced that tool with the blade holder.  I never removed the mat from the machine so I knew it was going to cut just right when I sent it back to my Inspiration.

I am still learning how to set the blade length and the pressure on this machine.  I am hoping that one day soon I will get it right!  If the blade is too long you cut into your mat.  If the blade is too short then it doesn't cut your design and you have to send it back through a second time for cutting.

Unfortunately I ended up doing both things.  Once I cut my mat and the other wasn't a good cut.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to take a look.

I hope you day is going great and that you have a fantastic evening.

It has been a long time since I have posted but I am trying to remedy that.

Here is an Easter Layout I am going to use for my grandkids this weekend.

I know I need to post a different picture.  This one I took with my phone.  As soon as I find my camera I will take another picture with it.

But for now we are stuck with this picture.  I used my Cricut Expressions to cut the house, bunnies and the grass.  If I could remember which cartridge I used I would be happy to tell you.  My memory however is not that good.  Most of the paper I used I do remember!  It is all from DCWV.

I did make this a few years ago and I just kept forgetting that I had it.  This Easter with the grandkids hunting Easter eggs and enjoying each other's company I think will be a fitting use for this layout!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my layout.

Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Spring!

Three little two pocket cards

Wow say that three times fast!   Hope you are having a great Monday so far.

I've have been wanting to make the two pocket card in a smaller size.  I learned how to make these cards from a tutorial onStamping Scrapping Tutorials and Technique

So this was my project for toaday. Here are the pictures and then I'll explain  how I made them.  The finished size of the cards are 2 1/2 " x 2 1/2".

I used a 6 x 6 piece of paper.  When I folded the card with that size it didn't work - it came out backwards.  To me that is just really strange.  I cut a strip off the bottom of the paper to make it a rectangle and that worked out great when I folded them.

I decided to put little tags in the pockets.  After using my punch to cut them all out I  put ribbon through them.  I hate putting ribbons through those small holes so an idea popped into my mind.

What if I put all the tags together and then put the ribbon through and just cut in between the tags and then tied the ribbon?  It worked!  Yeah.

Here are the products that I used:

The paper was Dots and Stripes from Echo Park Papers Co.  I purchased this from http://stampingscrapping.com/.

The ribbon and the punch I used are from Hobby Lobby.

Thank you for taking the time to take a look.

Hope you have a great evening!

Cameos

Good morning.  I finished my cameo pages this morning.  Tomorrow I will mail them.

I used my Pazzle's to cut the cameo and to write the quote.

Here are the pictures:

I saw this cameo in the Paazle's CraftRoom and fell in love with it.

I used both the negative and positive not because I thought:  "Hmm maybe I could use the positive and negative"  but because I ruined one of the cameos I cut.  So instead of cutting again I just used the one.

I cut the vinyl with my blade length at 1.5 and the pressure is where I had trouble.  The best pressure I found was 7.  I still need to work on that part.  I bought my vinyl from:Expression's Vinyl.

The paper is from K and Company Scarp Pad to Go.

To cut the tags I used the Spellbinders Creative Page Tabs.  I cut them using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur.

The "pearls"  are Perfect Pearls.  They almost didn't survive.  Once the cat jumped on one of the papers before it was dry and the second one I placed some paper on top of it not thinking!  I did a little touch up on them.

The "bling" was from my stash.  I think I bought these rolls of "bling" from Michaels. I never thought I would use these when I bought them.  They are little rolls of bling with adhesive already on them.  You just cut how much you need, peel them off the backing, and then apply them where you want.  I really enjoy using them.  In fact next time I go to a Michaels I am going to look for some more.  I bought these about a year ago and have just about used the entire rolls.

The ribbon was from Hobby Lobby.

The "gems" on the tab are from a kit of bling that I bought from HSN years ago!

And honestly I don't remember where I bought the flowers.

The quote is from Spencer Kimball from a 1979 talk.

On a side note here I don't pay full price for my crafting supplies.  I use coupons, "deals of the day", and offers that are too good to resist!

A great place to find "deals of the day" is from StampingScrapping.  I always check her deals and I check her past deals also.  I used the 40% off coupons from Micheals and Hobby Lobby.  I also belong to a couple of email lists and I find a lot of useful information and deals on those lists.

Thank you for taking time to stop by and take a look.  I really appreciate you doing so.

Have a great Monday!

Gift Card Holder

Are you as surprised as I am that I am posting another project today?  LOL

Here is a picture of a gift card holder that I made this morning:

I cut this using my Pazzles die cutting machine and a file that I uploaded from the Pazzle's CraftRoom.

The cardstock is Sugar Rush from Basic Grey.  I found this at Big Lots.

Thank you looking and I hope you have a great day!

A Two Pocket Card

Good Afternoon!

I made a two pocket card today.  The folding of the card was super easy - but then it became rather a trial in patience.

Before I show you the picture let me tell you why it was such a trial for me!

I decided to make my tags using my Pazzles die cutting machine and to use the Pazzles Pen Tool to write on each tag.  You see this week I decided that I was going to learn all I could about my Pazzles and not be afraid of it anymore!

I opened the software and finally found the images of "tags."  I  double clicked it which put it on my virtual mat and then I duplicated it until I had 7 of them.

I then used the "type" feature to create my words.  Then I had to figure out how to break the word apart and move the letters closer together.  I actually started on that part yesterday!

After posting for help and receiving it I was able to break my words apart and move them closer together.

Once that was completed I needed to make them horizontal.  That wasn't too difficult but I found out today that there is a button that you click and it automatically makes your words horizontal!  How fun is that?

The next step was to move them onto the tags. Once there I then selected the outside of the tag and made it red and the words I made blue. That way when you are ready to cut you can tell the machine to "cut" the blue line first - and that is when you put your pen in your pen holder and replace the blade holder.

Next you remove the pen holder and put the blade holder back into place.

So I'm ready to cut (remember this is my first time - most people can do this in seconds but oh no, not me!).  I told the machine to "write the blue lines."  It was going just great until my pen ran out of ink.  Seriously!  I then had to change pens 2 more times.  You would think it would be easy to find a pen in your house!  Once I had a good pen in the pen holder it wrote out perfectly.

I replaced the blade holder and cut out the tags.  All done with that part.  So now I'm looking for the protective plastic cover for my mat.  I just took it off.  The problem was I put it somewhere safe!  This is when I really hate the fibro fog. I looked and looked and this is a small room.  I still don't know where it is.  So I just used another protective sheet from an old mat.

What would normally take about 3 mintutes took me 1/2 hour.

Let me show you the pictures then I will list the products that I used:

The card stock that I used is from Scrap Pad to Go from K&C Company.

The cardstock for the letters "Just for you" is Bazzills.

Before I put the ribbon  on (just from my stash) I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  The color is called barn door.  I also used my Xyron sticker maker to put the adhesive on the back of the ribbon and on the phrase.

I used the Inkssentials blending tool to apply the distress ink.

The rhinestone stickers are from K I Memories paisley parade.

I bought a lot of my supplies from Stamping Scrapping.  The paper and Ribbon are from Hobby Lobby along with some of my tools.

The technique for the Two Pocket Card I learnedfrom watching a video at Cindy's Technique and Tutorial site.  I learn so much from that site everytime I visit.

I appreciate you taking the time and to come over and take a peek.  I  would to love to hear your comments!

Have a great Wednesday!

Sara

P.S.  I still haven't found my protective sheet!

A Fun Valentine

This is what I made for my son's school office for Valentine's Day.  It was so much fun watching them try to figure out how to get to the candy!

Here are a couple of pictures:

You cut a "door" in an empty 2 liter pop bottle.  Then pour in you candy and/or little gifts.

I used Hobby Lobby Vanlentine paper and ribbon from my stash.

I had to use my glue gun to get the paper to really stick.

I used Make-the-Cut software to design and cut my hearts.  I then ran them through my Xyron sticker maker, then laid them sticky side up and then poured Martha Stewart glitter all over them.  The adhesive hold the glitter perfectly.

I mad the flowers using a Spellinbinder spiral flower die cut.  I bought mine from Stampingscrapping.

I used sparkled vellum paper I had bought years ago knowing that I would have a use for it at some time or another and I did!

Once the die is cut you start rolling it from the outside edge.  When you are through rolling use your glue gun to put down some adhesive on the "tail" and gently push the center of the flower into the glue.

The first flower I rolled fairly loose and for the middle part I cut another flower and rolled it much tighter.  I put some glue from my glue gun in the middle of the first flower and then gently pushed the rolled flower from my hand into the middle of the first flower.

Then for a little added glitter I used my Perfect Pearls brush and dipped it into some red stickles and brushed it on the outside petals of the flowers. Once the brush is dry the stickles come right out.

I hope you enjoy making one of these for someone special and have fun watching them try and get to the chocolate!

Have a great day!'

Some of my son's work

I thought I would post some of my son's woodworking.  He loves to make small bats and actually has an order for 20 of them.

It always amazes me how someone take take a log like this:

And turn it into something like this:

They are so smooth and to this mom gorgeous!

Thank you so much for looking and I hope you have not only a great day but a great week!

Two new cards

Awe Friday evening and I have two new cards to share - Hey I am surprising even myself.  I think I'm beginning to get the hang of things.

These are for two special people, and I hope they don't see this until they get their cards!  Here they are:

I used Sizzix embossing folders on both cards.  Both sentiments are from K Andrew Designs.

All of the papers, ribbons, and bling came from my stash.  The blue ink is from Hobby Lobby and the purple ink is from Versa Magic.

Thank you for looking and I hope this evening is a great start to your weekend!

Sara

Good Friday morning!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and looking forward to a wonderful weekend.

I thought I would post some of the tiles I have made.  Some I have designed myself and others are from free svg. files.

I have more to post but will have to get to those later.

I used black vinyl purchased from Expressions Vinyl and the tiles I bought from Lowes.

Expressions Vinyl has a lot of variety and their pricing is good.  And of course you can find all sorts of tiles at Lowes.

Thank you for looking and have a great day!

Birthday Cards

I made two birtdhay cards for my little sister whose birthday is next week.  Even though she will be 53 I still consider her to be my little sister and always will.

For some reason I always think that I have more time than I actually do so to the rescue are the Sizzix embossing folder and the trusty Bow Easy.  The cards came together in no time.  I took the pictures with my phone because I wanted to share them with you quickly and my software with my camera can be pretty fussy at times, so I guess I am saying that I am sorry for the poor quality.

I may just send both cards because I can't decide which to send.

Here is the first one I made:

The paper and ribbon are from my stash and the Bow Easy came to my rescue for the bow.  I cannot make a bow without this handy little tool.  The pearls are from my stash too.

Here is the second card.  I think it is more elegant and I used black not because I think she is old (I'll always be older than she is!) but just because I thought it looked pretty:

Again the paper, ribbon, and flower are from my stash along with the "crystal ribbon."

Thank you for looking and I hope you have a fabulous evening!

"Miss Shoe"

Hope everyone has had a great Sunday!

Here is a card a made to tell someone that I missed them:

The paper is from Paper Studio Oop's-A-Daisy, the ribbon is from my very disorganized stash, probably from Hobby Lobby, the sentiment is from K-Andrew Design.

I also used my Bow Easy to make my bow.  It sure helps when you are "bow challenged!"

I started the card because of  a desing challenge at http://stampingscrappingtutorials.ning.com/ and it turned into the perfect opportunity to mail this to someone I wanted to let know they are thought about and loved.

Sorry about he background.  I really didn't think of it blending in wih the card.  Next card I will make sure I have a diffferent background or that the card is not the same color as the background.

Hope you have a wonderful evening and thank you for stopping by.

One step futher

Good Morning.  I want to share what I did with my challenge card from GHWI.

I am one of those peopel that I am usually ready for Christmas after Christmas and it was very true this year.

I wanted to give something to my sons teachers and staff but just didn't have a lot of time to make individual items for everyone.  This is what I did:

I bought a can of hot chocolate and decorated it.  All the paper I used is from my scrap drawer.

I covered it with paper first, then added two strips of paper ribbon.  I used my Bow Easy to make my bow that I had tied around the candy canes.  I put gold ribbon around the rim of the lid, more scarp paper and then some stickers from my stash.

I used my trusty glue gun to glue the candy canes onto the can.

I took it to them the week after Christmas - now all we have to do is wait for some cold weather!

Thank you for looking and have a wonderful day!
